A linear walk of approximately 6 miles along the mainly flat Rodwell trail and after Ferrybridge the coastal path, following what was the Weymouth – Portland railway line, passing two of Henry VIII’s Castles enroute. Walk led by Sylvia Popham.

Thanks to Sally Morgan for leading today's walk for the Wessex Wanderers.
This was an undulating walk across the Dorset Downs, with two main climbs Batcombe Hil and Break Heart Hill and descents, and a few smaller ones. These rewarded us with some great views, and we also passed through some picturesque villages, particularly Sydling St Nicholas.
Chetnole is a request stop in the middle of nowhere. Maiden Newton is a village with a pub and a shop, so better to do the walk this way round. Steve Melia
